Jozy Altidore, an American soccer player, has been off of the field because of an injury, but he has been hard at work bringing fresh water to the people of Haiti. Jozy’s own parents are from Haiti and, after the earthquake in 2012, he felt compelled to help. At the young age of 19, the soccer player started the Jozy Altidore Foundation, to bring water to half of the nation’s population that does not have clean water.

“To get fresh water, clean water in Haiti, it’s very hard,” Jozy said. “They have a lot of contamination issues. They’re just cut off from fresh water and a lot of them have to walk miles before they can even reach fresh water.”

After teaming up with Generosity Water, the foundation was able to play a role in creating 561 wells worldwide. Jozy was able to install wells in Haiti that will help hundreds of people. He hopes to expand his project to help everyone in Haiti get water.

We commend Jozy for this important project and wish him great success! We also hope that he has a full and speedy recovery so that he can get back to playing soccer.
