Eric Trump is a friend and colleague that I am very proud to know and he is an excellent role model for teens who hope to make a difference in the world. In spite of a very busy work schedule, Eric spends a great deal of time trying to help those who are less fortunate. The responsibilities that Eric has to see to are many within The Trump Organization (the pre-eminent developer of luxury real estate around the world) which makes him a very busy individual with many responsibilities; yet Eric still finds time to raise money on a regular basis for St. Jude Children’s Hospital which treats terminally ill children regardless of their ability to pay.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was initially started in 1962 by founder Danny Thomas. The mission of this facility is to research cures and provide advanced treatment for children who have been diagnosed with catastrophic diseases. Without the hospital,

these children would not be able to receive the latest treatment methods and advanced technologies. In addition, the research department works hard on finding cures and more effective treatments for the illnesses that the pediatric patients have. Families who cannot afford the cost of treatment are not turned away regardless of their ability to pay, and every pediatric patient receives the same top quality care whether they have exceptional health insurance or no coverage at all.

Eric is passionate about raising funds for St. Jude and works tirelessly on behalf of the hospital. Eric’s dynamic energy and passion for helping others makes him a great role model for teens. For example, on October 15, 2013, Yesterday, Eric Trump appeared on The Elvis Duran Morning Radio Show to announce The Eric Trump Foundation’s new philanthropic collaboration with Elvis Duran, to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  On November 23, 2013, Eric & Elvis will be walking as a team called, “Elvis Trumps Cancer” across the Brooklyn Bridge & back as part of St. Jude’s nationwide initiative, “Give thanks. Walk”, from Cadman Plaza Park, Brooklyn, NY, 9:00AM (rain or shine).  You can join their team and walk by clicking here:  http://goo.gl/bXLRMi

The Eric Trump Foundation is responsible for a new $20 million dollar Surgery and ICU Center that will be named in honor of Eric, and without his hard efforts this center would not be possible. The hospital only has 2 operating rooms available and the number of children requiring surgery has risen considerably in the last few years. The need for a new surgical center was evident and Eric Trump stepped up in order to help the hospital reach this goal. The traits that Eric displays are those that teens need to learn in order to be productive citizens with good values. The charity work that he does has changed many lives so far, and Eric has a lot to teach teens about being successful on many levels.

Thoughts to Consider…

  • What have you done lately in order to help others who are less fortunate?
  • Do you take time out of a busy schedule in order to reach out or do you find yourself overwhelmed with responsibility instead?
  • What can you do in order to volunteer?
  • What can you do with the skills and financial resources that you have available in order to make the world a better place for others?
