Hard Work Pays Off
Adonis Lattimore finished first place in the Virginia state wrestling championship for the High School League Class 6 106-pound weight class, and he did it all without legs.

Adonis was born missing his right leg and most of his left leg, as well as 4 fingers on his right hand. He said winning a wrestling tournament has been his goal since he was 11, and that he’s “been dreaming of this since I knew what it was, and to finally have it happen is just — I don’t know how to explain it.”

Adonis, now a Senior, missed the regional tournament in his Sophomore year of high school, and could not compete his Junior year because of Covid-19. He also finished second place in the regional championship only a few days before winning the state league.

After Adonis won the state wrestling championship, he said “Really if you work hard, you can do anything — even win a state championship without legs.” Adonis should be an inspiration to us all, and can he teach us that no matter how hard it may be, anything is possible if you put the work and effort into it.
