The Random Acts of Kindness Club is making a difference

Lai Caravella, a middle school teacher at Memorial Middle School in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, is the founder of the “Miss C’s Random Acts of Kindness Club.” She has been a teacher for 12 years and is dedicated to providing her students with not only a great education but also with opportunities to become caring and kind people. The club she created does just that by helping her students grow as individuals.

Miss Caravella is a strong believer in the idea that you should treat others the way you would like to be treated. That philosophy has guided her in forming and maintaining the club she runs. The club’s mission is to “make a difference in the lives of others” through the work that is done by children who are involved in the club.

Some projects that her students have helped with are: decorating hospital patient’s IV poles with finger puppets, packing bags of food for people in local shelters, and paying a visit to residents of a nursing home.

Miss Caravella is a great role model for people of all ages. She represents the importance of a diverse classroom, one that focuses on both educating students, but also teaching them about the importance of volunteering and making an impact on their community. She has given her students and those involved with the club a chance to give back and to make a difference, a lesson that is arguably the most important lesson of all. We salute Ms. Caravella and her work!
